At Chattanooga Family Dentistry, we understand that having a root canal can be daunting. The good news is you can feel more confident knowing this procedure is routine for Dr. Lunn.

What Root Canal Treatment?
Root canal treatments are dental procedures designed to address damage or infection in the soft tissue of the tooth, also known as the pulp. When the pulp becomes infected, it can lead to severe pain.
During the root canal treatment, we remove the damaged tissue and clean out each root of the tooth, then seal the tooth to prevent further infections. We then restore the tooth with a crown.
Why You May Need a Root Canal
A root canal may be recommended if you are experiencing the following:
Persistent tooth pain
Sensitivity to hot and cold that lingers
Swelling or tenderness of the gums
A pimple-like bump on your gums
If you notice any of these symptoms, give us a call at 423-553-8858 to get the treatment you need. Delaying could lead to more severe issues, including tooth loss.
What Our Patients Say About Our Dental Practice
“I made the best decision.”
Alisha L.
“I went in this morning for two root canals and to remove the infection.
He gave me meds to calm me before I even got there. That helped tremendously.
I didn’t have to wait in the lobby at all which made me a lot less agitated.
The assistants were kind, and made me feel so at ease.
I remember sitting in the chair, and getting an IV but after that- it’s a blur. And that’s the way i wanted it!”
Kay R.
“I was extremely tired of having to go to a “specialist “ if my current dentist could not do a root canal, or dental surgery, or implants, etc…
I am so happy I found Dr. Lunn and his office staff. From the front desk to the excellent dental hygienist (where you leave the office feeling so clean and the mirror verifying it), to the sweet and professional front desk ladies, that verify insurance coverage for you, to making your appointments to just cheering you up for the day.”
Amber
“Another great experience at Chattanooga Family Dentistry. I was a bit nervous going in because I felt my dental health had declined a bit. I was pleasantly surprised to find I was in great oral health and the team made sure I was comfortable during my time here!
If you’re looking for a place to come this would be it! It’s in a very convenient location and overall just feels like a good place …that’s saying a lot about a doctors type visit!”
The Root Canal Process
At Chattanooga Family Dentistry we use the latest in technology to ensure your visit is as comfortable as possible. We offer several sedation dentistry options if you would prefer. Here’s what to expect:
Initial Consultation and Assessment: During your first visit we will perform a detailed examination to see if you need a root canal. This process will involve taking X-rays to determine the underlying damage.
Pain-free Treatment with Anesthetic: We will use local anesthetic to numb the area to ensure you have a pain-free experience.
Removal of the Infections and Cleaning of the Canals: We will remove all the infected pulp and thoroughly clean each canal.
Tooth Sealing and Restoration: Once the infected pulp is removed, we will seal the tooth and restore the tooth with a crown.
